The Glutton's Will
sizzle reel

A synopsis of a full-length feature film

Friedrich Andrei de Shy, a restaurateur and an avid glutton, passes away. Two days later, ten people, friends and relatives of the deceased, gather at his residence for his funeral and the reading of his will. According to Glutton's last testament, everyone will receive their expected inheritance, but under the condition that they consume the remains of the deceased—quite literally, in a culinary sense. If they refuse, all his property must be incinerated, revealing the condition to the public.

Upon hearing this unusual stipulation, all the inheritors immediately halt their meals, including Olivia, who habitually indulges in food as a bulimic. Alexei, a priest and the eldest son of the deceased, along with his wife Maria, begin to pray. The widow is incensed; all the restaurants she managed for years, her life's work, must be reduced to ashes. No one is willing to entertain the idea of fulfilling this macabre condition. But hold on, Friedrich Andrei's embalmed body lies in the adjacent room, prepared for the impending funeral. However, it is revealed that Reynaldo, the butler, was aware of this last wish in advance and, accordingly, placed de Shy's body in a specialized refrigerator at his request. The body in the casket is a wax replica—a counterfeit. Now, instead of mourning, resentment festers among the inheritors for his final prank. They consider themselves decent, ordinary individuals, while Friedrich Andrei was a glutton, a libertine, and a drunkard. Let it all burn!

The following night, Wolf Woolf, an art connoisseur, attempts to pilfer paintings from "De Shy's collection of golden-age Dutch still-lives," which were bequeathed to him. His wife, Elizabeth, catches him in the act. As a notary, she learned of de Shy's condition before the others and had time to contemplate it. She believes that de Shy's condition should at least be considered, but thievery, even for the sake of art, is unacceptable.

The group decides to take time to reflect in the morning. At breakfast, they all avoid making eye contact.
A mock funeral for the wax doll takes place. The only person who declines to participate is Guy Smith, the 16-year-old adopted son of de Shy. As a diligent student, he conducts research and discovers intriguing information about burial traditions from various cultures. As a priest, Alexei worries about his brother's apparent inclination to fulfill the condition. Alexei delivers a moral sermon, emphasizing responsibility to God, but Jirji, a pianist and Olivia's spouse, brutally deflates him by revealing that Padre Alexei himself has a dark past as a murderer, shielded from justice only by his affluent father. The heirs become engrossed in their confessions. All their unsavory secrets come to light: Guy Smith is revealed to be the biological son of Friedrich Andrei and Maria, Alexei's wife; Shura, the cook, is de Shy's sister and a former prostitute; her husband Reynaldo is a Neapolitan thief.

Jirji devises a plan to deceive the authorities: they can claim to have eaten him without actually doing so, and Elizabeth, as a notary, can officially confirm that everything proceeded as expected. The heirs rejoice at this decision, but suddenly, the notary minister arrives. He has scrutinized Friedrich Andrei's will and identified a flaw: there is no witness to the process of fulfilling the deceased's condition, which is not entirely legal. The minister's team installs surveillance cameras in de Shy's house.

Ultimately, the beneficiaries reluctantly instruct Shura to prepare Friedrich Andrei for tomorrow's dinner. They assure themselves that even when Friedrich Andrei's flesh is placed on their plates, they still have the choice to refuse. They remind themselves of this opportunity, but as the clock strikes six, dinnertime arrives, and Reynaldo presents a massive dish covered by a colossal lid.
